Rocktrospectiva: The Decent Odd "Standing On The Edge" Turns 40

Released on 22 July 1985 "Standing On The Edge" was the 8th., studio album by US band Cheap Trick, under Jack Douglas production, the album spawned the single "Tonigh It's You" that aided to peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard 200.

The album marked a return to the band's standar hard-rocking sound, however, Douglas backed out of the mixing process due to legal issues he was having with Yoko Ono. So Mixer Tony Platt was called in, and as a result, keyboards and electronic drums were featured more prominently than the band and Douglas had intended. The first single, "Tonight It's You",  was the most successful and well-known track from the album. Even thought two promotional music videos were made for the song, and both clips received much airplay on MTV. Other highlighted tracks were "Little Sister" and "Cover Girl" these with the titl'e track made of the album a decent one.

The sound was a bit dated to the 80's with the production, but if you were a huge Cheap Trick fan, this album definitely was a must-have especially for the great single, back in the date, this album was noticed for that, a return to the form for Cheap Trick althought for other critics it was like a back to splendor for this pop pranksters due it had all the elements that contributed to the band's worldwide success, the album was a recombination of Beatlesque mania sound, and some Who-ish arena rock sound with the band's prime period with full melodic.
