Released on 13 August 1985 "Primitive Love" was the 9th., studio album by US band Miami Sound Machine, the album achieved success in the United States and abroad, also spawned four singles "Conga", "Bad Boy", "Words Get In The Way" & "Falling In Love (Uh-Oh).
The band previous releases had failed to achieve much in the way of crossover success. However, with the release of Primitive Love in 1985, they achieved success worldwide. The album was the band's first appearance on the US albums chart, reaching #21 on the Billboard 200.
Back in the day, the band desperately needed a hit, and nearly ten albums later, that hit finally arrived, "Conga", it was the breakthrough single for the band, not just their crossover hit, but the hit that propelled the band from regional to international recognition due in huge part this single, that became a dancefloor hit phenomenon just like in the way the "Lambada" would be in the years to come. But the album offered more than just the danceable "Conga", no doubt about it the sound and style of the album are firmly
entrenched in mid-'80s dance-pop, maybe half the record had that synth-drum sound of the era, but the other half had dance pop tunes nowadays considered classic, that was the case of "Conga", "Bad Boy", the ballads "Falling In Love (Uh-Oh)" and of course the incredible "Words Get I nThe Way", that practically paved the road for the band's next album "Let It Loose" which was pretty much the same like this but with a huge improvement.
Nevertheless, "Primitive Love" had its touch, the sound, the style and the hits, whether you like "Conga" or not it was this tune that made this album a worth listening.
