New Music: The Ballad Of Terry Fox

            

Singer Bryan Adams has released a new song, "The Ballad of Terry Fox," and an accompanying music video that celebrates the Marathon of Hope runner. The song will be featured in the upcoming documentary about Fox, Run Terry Run and also in his forthcoming album "How's It Goin." The film details Fox's journey with losing his right leg to osteosarcoma and his run from St. John's to raise money and awareness for cancer research. "I remember Terry’s run back in 1980 when I was on tour in Canada playing 200-capacity clubs," Adams said in a press release. “I was 20 years old and I think Terry was a year older than me." "When he stopped near Thunder Bay on Sept. 1, I had just played in Ottawa, and his run was all over the news," he continued. "Thinking back, it was a pivotal time in Canada. Without knowing it, Terry gave our slightly fractious country a ‘something' and ‘someone' that everyone could agree on and unite behind."The song's lyrics detail Fox's run and his dream of finding a cure for cancer: "The finish line was in his mind, not a city on a map," Adams sings. Fox ended his marathon in Thunder Bay, Ont., after cancer spread to his lungs. He died 10 months later at 22. Sean Menard, who directed the film, shared that "Bryan is a legendary storyteller, and his words paired with Terry’s story on screen felt incredibly powerful. To have one Canadian icon write a song about another is truly special. Given the political climate while I was editing the video, I often found myself deeply moved with Canadian pride." Run Terry Run will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Released on 29 August 2025, "Roll With The Punches" is the 16th., studio album by Canadian singer Bryan Adams, the album was released on Adams' own label Bad Records. Four singles has been released since February 2025 "Roll With The Punches", "Make Up Your Mind", & "A Little More Understanding" which has an astonishing video. 

 

The album's title track has been described by Adams as a "hefty rock stomper", and is about resilience and "the spirit of getting back up no matter how hard you've been knocked down". Definitely there's one thing for sure, the man still can rock just like in the good old days 80s/90s, and for some reason the Canadian knows what he got and I think, this must be the secret of his longevity in music business. 

 

Roll With The Punches is his sixteenth album and the first on his own label, and inmeditately if you were a truly follower of his career will associate the sound just like in the days of "Cuts Like A Knife/Reckless" thing.

 

The opening title track, with its nod to Proud Mary, the rhymes are cheerfully, and he does what soft rockers of his vintage always do, where he yells the title – ‘You’ve got to roll with the punches!’ –  and even the Yeah! thing to transmit the vibe, there is also bluesy sounds, the usual romantic waltx on "Two Arms To Hold You" just like he knew how to do it, even the pro-choice and anti-war message in a gentle style on "Life Is Beautiful", the peace message on "Love Is Stronger Than Hate" is another highlight and the surprising "Never Ever Let You Go" in which you can still apprecciate something of his back catalogue to please the audience, not bad the ballad "Will We Ever Be Friends Again", a little bit cheesy indeed but I guess he pointed nostalgia as a way to ease the confusion we are living it nowadays. 

 

Not a bad album, indeed it's an accessible record and it's enjoyable, definitely the Man is pointing his fans that definitely will love this, cause there's a lot of familiar sound from his back catalogue but in a freshly renovated way.

Released on 5 November 1984, "Reckless" was the fourth studio album by Canadian artist Bryan Adams, released on that date to coincide with Adams 25th., birthday, under Bob Clearmountain production, the album was a massive success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide, making it Adams' second highest-selling studio album to date – behind his 1991 album "Waking up the Neighbours". The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 gaining positive reviews from critics, the album spawned six singles "Run To You", "Somebody", "Heaven", "Summer of '69", "One Night Love Affair", and "It's Only Love"; all six singles charted within the top-twenty on the Billboard Hot 100. 

Bryan Adams already had three albums under his belt and delivered what was about to become his career-defining fourth, Reckless. an album with a huge sound destined for stadiums. At the time, he was living in the space between success and fame, Adams returned to his hometown of Vancouver, Canada, and entered Little Mountain Sound Studios with longtime producer and collaborator Bob Clearmountain. After laying down nine tracks, it was clear the studio wasn’t equipped to handle the bigger sound Adams and Clearmountain were chasing, so the sessions then relocated to New York City’s famed Hell’s Kitchen studio, Power Station.

The songs they’d captured included the ballad "Heaven," recorded in 1983 as the theme to the movie A Night In Heaven, other tracks such as "One Night Love Affair" and "Run To You," a track that had been originally been rejected Blue Öyster Cult and which would become one of the singer biggest hits, but the artist wasn't happy enough so he called Bruce Allen, who simply asked: "Where’s the rock?". So the next day, Adams flew back to Vancouver. He called Jim Vallance, his co-songwriter, to add some heat to "One Night Love Affair" and "Summer Of ’69" A new song also emerged: "Kids Wanna Rock".

The timeless summer anthem "Summer Of '69", was the song exploded in the USA, raising Adams’ profile status, also wanting to create a record imbued with the energy of a live performance, Adams re-recorded those three songs using Pat Steward, a drummer in a ska band called Rubber Biscuit, whom Adams had discovered by chance playing in a club one night.

The album was radio solid gold, spawning a string hit singles singles starting with "Run To You" peaked at 6, "Somebody" peaked at No. 11, "Heaven" peaked at No. 1, "Summer Of "69" peaked at No. 5, "One Night Love Affair" peaked at No. 13 and a duet with Tina Turner, "It's Only Love" peaked at No. 15 earning Adams a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance By A Duo Or Group.

Reckless was also a big hit on the MTV were got huge airplay with the videos for "One Night Love Affair," and the rocker "Somebody." the hit single "Run To you", and of course the magnificent "Summer Of '69", so it was a time ruled by synth-pop but "Reckless managed someway to put the guitar-based rock and roll sound back to the charts, not only in the United States but oversees after join Tina Turner on a European leg of her tour in 1985. 

The reviews were positive, describing the album a stadium-sized classic, a masterful piece of pop/rock radio-friendly vibe in the 1980s., praising the sonic quality sound of the album, in order to perfected the arena rock sound.

New Music: War Machine

            

Bryan Adams released "War Machine" one of two songs he co-wrote in the 1980s with Jim Vallance and KISS's Gene Simmons."War Machine" and "Rock And Roll Hell", which Adams released earlier this month, both originally appeared on KISS's 1982 album "Creatures Of The Night". Adams will release "War Machine" and "Rock And Roll Hell" as a limited-edition double A-side seven-inch single on August 30 via his new independent label, Bad Records. Bryan explained: "Here are two songs I co-wrote when I was a 22-year-old struggling songwriter. I got a call out of the blue from producer Michael James Jackson to see if I would like to write for KISS, which I was thrilled to do, and these are a couple of the songs that were the result, written with both Gene Simmons and Jim Vallance. About the video: "I aimed to create something monumental for the 'War Machine' video, and I'd been collaborating with CGI director Ben Ib on a peace-themed video entitled 'What If There Were No Sides At All'. To contrast the peace message of that video, I proposed to Ben that we develop the 'War Machine' video showcasing chaos and destruction. In the video, the tyrant that is leading the war ultimately faces consequences for his actions."

Bryan Adams launches Bad Records, his own independent label, with a Limited Edition 7”, digital single and video. Bryan Adams is releasing a special double A-side single featuring two songs this one's "Rock And Roll Hell" through his new independent label, Bad Records. Rocktrospectiva: El Comercialmente Exitoso "Cuts Like A Knife" Cumple 40 Años

Lanzado el 18 de Enero de 1983, "Cuts Like A Knife" fue el 3er., álbum de estudio del Canadiense Bryan Adams, co-producido por el mismo y Bob Clearmountain, el disco se convirtió en un éxito absoluto en los Estados Unidos y Canadá, gracias a su energía y la fuerza de sus populares singles entre los que se contaba la balada "Straight From The Heart", y las rockeras "Cuts Like A Knife" y "This Time".

El disco alcanzó el No. 8 en la Billboard 200 y los singles alcanzaron buenas posiciones, el primero llegó al No. 10, el segundo tuvo mucho apoyo y rotación en la MTV que le ayudó a llegar al top 15, así como el último que llegó al No. 24, nada mal para el Canadiense que venía viendo la forma de obtener un sonido propio el cual sin duda lo consiguió con este disco, aunque los temas venían desde hace tiempo, "Straight From The Heart" la había compuesto en 1978 pero sin poderla grabar el mismo, pese a ello, la canción fue grabada por otros artistas como Bonnie Tyler pero entonces el decidió hacerla el mismo y grabarla con su toque y ese fue el resultado, mientras que con "Cuts Like A Knife" ayudo mucho el video en una piscina vacía y Adams con un look de rockero malo, no digamos "This Time" en donde llegaba a un motel medio abandonado.

El disco fue grabado entre el 13 de Agosto al 20 de Octubre de 1982 en Vancouver, y entre los temas destacaba la balada "Straight From The Heart" una de las más populares canciones de Adams, casi omnipresente en recopilaciones y conciertos, "Cuts Like a Knife", otra de las más reconocidas al menos de este lado del charco ya que en Europa paso sin pena ni gloria, "Don't Leave Me Lonely" con escrita con Eric Carr, iba a estar en el disco "Creatures Of The Night" de Kiss pero quedó fuera a última hora, otra gran canción y preferida de su servidor es "This Time", en un principio no le puso mucho feeling pero eventualmente se grabó por la insistencia del productor y fue exitosa incluso en Europa aunque lo consiguió cuando fue re-lanzada, otro tema era "The Best Was Yet To Come" que la interpretaría después Laura Branigan para su disco auto-titulado de 1990, este tema originalmente se lanzó solo en Holanda y el otro single "Let Him Know" solo fue para Japón. 

El disco estableció a Adams como fuerza y artista a seguir, al menos en Norteamérica, ya que fuera de esos mercados no fue el mismo éxito, excepto un poco en el Reino Unido en donde consiguió cierta notoriedad al ser vuelto a lanzar, además lo estableció como icono de la MTV gracias al clip de "Cuts Like A Knife" que fue muy popular en ese entonces y de los más reconocidos en su momento, por estos lares, el tema exitoso fue la power ballad "Straight From The Heart" que fue la única que se promocionó si no estoy mal en las estaciones locales y hasta la fecha sigue siendo de las más pedidas en cuanto a su repertorio.

El Canadiense Bryan Adams acaba de anunciar el lanzamiento de su nuevo disco "So Happy It Hurts" para este 11 de marzo, y presenta su nuevo single y video, del mismo nombre. El tema fue inspirado por la pandemia en donde indicó que el encierro devolvió la verdad sobre como la espontaneidad puede irse, repentinamente ya no podías hacer cosas tan simples como salir a caminar o montarte al carro para pasear, el tema es sobre la libertad, la autonomía y la espontaneidad, el clip fue dirigido en blanco y negro en el Warehouse Studio de Vancouver, Canadá por el propio Bryan Adams.

Rocktrospectiva: El Multiventas "Waking Up The Neighbours" Cumple 30 Años

Lanzado  el mismo día que los discos de Nirvana, Soundgardne y Red Hot Chilli Peppers, "Waking Up The Neighbours" 6to., álbum de estudio del Canadiense Bryan Adams, ya tenía la fama garantizada, ya que el single "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" se había convertido en un éxito global, lo cual impulsó enormemente el desempeño del disco, convirtiendose en el segundo más vendedor en su carrera tras el éxito de "Reckless" de 1984. 

 

Producido por el gran Robert "Mutt" Lange, ayudó a Adams a escribir las canciones y mejorar las mismas, el tema icónico del disco había sido compuesto por Michael Kamen en los 60s, entonces Lange ayudó en las letras y le dieron el toque con el uso de instrumento medievales, ya que fue el tema principal de la película "Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves" protagonizada por Kevin Costner,  pero también habían otros geniales temas como "Can't Stop This Things We Started", segundo single, más movido y rockero que la anterior y que fue No. 2, con mucha rotación en la MTV, luego se vino "There Will Never Be Another Tonight" que no muy sonó por estos lares, la canción se remonta a un fragmento de finales de los 80s entre Adams y Jim Vallance, la power ballad "Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven" fue el cuarto single y fue de nuevo un top 20, luego vinieron "All I Want Is You", "Touch The Hand" y la genial "Do I Have To Say The Words?" la última tuvo gran rotación en la MTV y si fue éxito por estos lares. 

 

El álbum fue un éxito rotundo en todo el mundo, encabezado por el célebre tema de Robin Hood,  fue incluída en los primeros cinco puestos de los mejores temas del 91, en muchos países incluyendo Guatemala, y reafianzó el estatus de Adams como figura internacional, tampoco se escapo de la controversia en su país gracias a una ley del sistema Canadiense de contenido, ya que pese a que fue el disco más grande de Canadá, fue producido y trabajado con gente no Canadiense por lo que no se le consideró un disco Canadiense, por eso Adams boicoteo los Juno Awards, y gracias a eso que la norma finalmente fue revisitada. 

El disco probablemente marco el fin de la era masiva de Adams, ya que no volvería a repetir un éxito tan contundente como lo tuvo con este disco, a diferencia de los sonidos alternativos, Adams ya estaba establecido como artista por lo que su historia fue diametralmente opuesta, en ese entonces donde no llegó a sonar este disco.

Rocktrospectiva: El Masivo Y Exitoso "Reckless" Cumple 35 Años

Fue el 4to., álbum de estudio en la carrera del Canadiense Bryan Adams, co-producido por Adams y Bob Clearmountain, llegando a ser el más exitoso e icónico en su carrera, llegando a vender más de 12 millones de copias a nivel mundial, gracias al sonido, el éxito de los singles y finalmente la masiva gira de 1984-85 que lo puso en el radar a nivel mundial. El disco alcanzó el No. 1 de la Billboard, impulsado por seis exitosos singles, "Run To You", "Somebody", "Heaven", la archifamosa "Summer Of 69'", "One Night Love Affair" y finalmente "It's Only Love" que lanzara a dueto con Tina Turner.  Lo curioso fue que los singles llegaron al top 15 en los Estados Unidos, en una época muy difícil ya que se tenía que pelear con Bruce Springsteen y Michael Jackson muy de moda en ese entonces.

Las grabaciones iniciaron en marzo de 1984, tras el final del tour "Cuts Like A Knife"aunque el proceso inicial no fue del todo satisfactorio, aún así y tras un mes libre, comienza todo en agosto y finaliza con el track "It's Only Love" junto a Tina Turner, además gracias a esa tendencia, tracks como "Run To You", "Summer Of 69'" y "Heaven" tomaron la tendencia que finalmente quería Adams. Las canciones son de lo mejor en todo sentido de la palabra, "Run To You" es una de las más famosas del disco y se ha convertido en un baluarte para Adams dentro de la cultura pop, con "Somebody" la tendencia sigue igual y alcanza el éxito en los charts,  "Heaven" era la baladita que también alcanzó el top ten con un recordado video, y luego la mega famosa "Summer Of 69'" que marcó una época en todos lados, con un video genial con alta rotación también en la MTV, a pesar que tuvo cierta sombra del primero y de "It's Only Love" con Tina Turner, y finalmente podemos mencionar "One Night Love Affair" y la recuerdo mucho porque aparecía en el soundtrack de "Real Genius" en la escena de la fiesta, y finalmente el dueto con Tina Turner en una época en que la Turner era literalmente la reina. 

El disco sigue siendo el más exitoso en la carrera de Adams, a pesar que en los años por venir lanzaría algunos buenos discos en especial el "Waking Up The Neighbours" de 1991, este se mantiene como su obra maestra en todo sentido de la palabra, era perfecto disco de rock y pop, además que los singles impulsados por videos marcaron una época a mediados de los 80's para el Canadiense,  en Guatemala el disco tampoco paso por alto, se trabajaron cuatro singles de los 6 en las estaciones de radio, aunque aquí la que más se mantiene como la más famosa es sin duda "Summer Of 69'" que marcó toda una época en Guatemala, y hasta la fecha sigue siendo una de las más pedidos del repertorío del Canadiense.

Lanzado un 18 de enero de 1983 bajo el sello A&M, "Cuts Like A Knife" era el 3er., disco de estudio del canadiense Bryan Adams, destacandose principalmente en Canada y Estados Unidos, curiosamente el disco no tuvo buen desempeño fuera de Norteamérica y tendría que esperar hasta la llegada del archifamoso "Reckless" para conquistar el Reino Unido.

El disco logró vender un total de 2 millones de copias, gracias al poder de sus tres singles: "Straight From The Heart" que sonó fuerte en las estaciones de Guatemala, el vigoroso "Cuts Like A Knife" y "This Time", que fueron responsables en llevarlo al mainstream, en especial en su natal Canadá en donde esta dentro de los mejores 100 discos de todos los tiempos de ese país.

Grabado entre el 13 de agosto y el 20 de octubre de 1982, en los estudios Little Mountain Sound en Vancouver, fue producido por Bob Clearmountain y Bryan Adams, este contenía la poderosa balada "Straight From The Heart" un tema de 1978 que fue la última en grabarse, además de "This Time" la cual, el propio Adams estaba dudoso de hacerlo pero tras la insistencia del productor lo hizo para resultar en beneficio de Adams con el tiempo. El primer single fue de hecho la balada antes mencionada dandole el reconocimiento clave a Adams, ya que es una de las canciones más populares del artista, alcanzando el No., 10 del Billboard, mientras que "Cuts Like A Knife" una de las más fuertes del disco fue lanzada ya en 1983 con una buena rotación del video en la MTV ochentera, también fue un top 10 mientras que en Canadá fue su primer top 20, al contrario en Europa donde ni siquiera entro en los charts.

El disco también contaba con otros temas como "Don't Leave Me Lonely" co-escrita con Eric Carr baterista de Kiss y que se suponía estaría dentro del disco "Creatures Of The Night" pero fue descartada a última hora, "This Time" el otro single" llego al 24 del Billboard y si logró entrar en los charts británicos tras un segundo intento, también destacaban otros temas como "The Best Was Yet To Come" que llegó a ser interpretado por Laura Branigan.

El éxito del disco lo mando de gira mundial comenzando en Canadá, para luego pasar por Estados Unidos, después llegó al Reino Unido junto a Supertramp, para luego irse al Japón y después servir de telonero para The Police en Australia y Nueva Zelanda, el disco fue el preambulo de lo que vendría después con "Reckless" ya que puso de manifiesto el estilo que llevaría a lo largo de los 80's y que estaba por convertirlo en estrella mundial,.
