Matt Berninger, the leader and voice of The National, has released his new EP, Type It Up, digitallya couple of days ago through Book/Concord Records. The collection features three original songs and two covers, with a vinyl edition available on December 4, including a bonus acoustic live recording. The lead track, "Ask For Water," has an accompanying music video directed by Berninger's collaborator, Chris Sgroi. This EP follows Berninger’s critically acclaimed album Get Sunk, released last year.

Beck has released a video for the single "Run Away," filmed in Tokyo, Japan and featuring Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano. The video was released simultaneously with the artist's new album, "Ride Lonesome." Asano, known for the film Ichi the Killer and the series Shogun, played the leading role in the video, in which his character travels alone through Tokyo. Beck said that at the end of a hot summer, he went to Japan to make the video and turned to his friend Kunichi Nomura. According to the musician, Japanese artists worked on the short film for the song, and filming took place entirely in Japan.
David Byrne has released an updated edition of Who Is the Sky? in celebration of its recent one-year anniversary that includes four new tracks—including a new single "My Madness," which arrives with a vibrant music video. Legendary Scottish band Simple Minds premiered their new single "Beginner Boys" a week ago, now their sharing the official video directed by Laurie TB with formidable effects and visuals, the track is taken from their forthcoming album Sacrosanct.

watching his grandsons grow up, "how strength, tenderness, courage, and
gentleness might still belong together, even when the wider culture

Teenage Fanclub have released "Be With You Tonight", the latest taster of their upcoming album, Do Not Dare To Dream, to be released on 9 October. "Be With You Tonight" the the track reflecting on the happiness that singer Norman Blake finds in moving to a new house in the Glasgow countryside."I'm in a good place in terms of happiness and wellbeing, and my songs on this album are really just a reflection of that," Blake says. "I've found that the easiest thing to write about is yourself. It can be quite cathartic. It's sort of like doing your own therapy." About the video, it has been photographed on location at Black Bay Studio on Great Bernera by Donald Milne.
Sports Team are back with their first new single since 2025's Boys These Days. "Billy," the new single from the London-based rockers, arrives alongside a music video by Kris R that features a masked character bearing a squint-and-you-see-it resemblance to Michael Fassbender's Frank from the movie Frank. Regarding about the track, songwriter Rob Knaggs shared: "It's a love letter to getting desperately, insanely drunk at a carpeted pub on a Tuesday night. We recorded it live at RAK studios over the first weeks of summer with Seth Evans and Adele Phillips. It felt like a return to how we made the first album. Fast, and loose and loud."
The Inspiral Carpets have shared their new single "Touching From A Distance Too Far" taken from the band's first studio album in 12 years "Burn Like The Sun," due to be released on January 29th next year. Touching From A Distance is another classic Inspirals track, Said the band. "A nice blend of 60's psychedelia, 50's rock 'n roll and cool 21st century contemporary vibes." The lyrics, written by Graham, are a nod to one of the Inspirals' favourite and most influential bands, Joy Division. A song about regret and never truly knowing someone.

Dexys Midnight Runners have released "Once A Man, Twice A Child," the
latest single from their new album "Love" out September 4 via Heavenly
Recordings. Produced by David Holmes, the song follows earlier singles"“My Life In England Pt. 1" and "You've Got The Love" and centres on
Kevin Rowland's changing relationship with his father. For Rowland, the song comes from a relationship he once believed would never become close. "I had a really tough relationship with my dad, my old man," he says. "I was resigned to the fact that we were never going to be close." That dynamic shifted after his father suffered a stroke. Rowland
recalls being able to show affection in ways that had previously felt
impossible, from hugging him and holding his hand to helping him get
ready for bed. He describes those later years as an unexpected chance to
build the relationship they had never managed earlier in life. The experience ultimately gave the song its title. Reflecting on the
role reversal that can come with ageing, Rowland says, “As they say,
once a man, twice a child.
John Oates shares "Goodnight or Goodbye" the title of a new song from — but its origins go back to 1992. As Oates explained in a statement about the track, he stumbled upon
an old tape from decades back and decided to put the song together for
release now as an attempt to capture the musical spirit of the 1960s: "I rediscovered this song on an old tape that I recorded in 1992. I
wanted to tap into the uncertainty of young love, and it seemed like a
’60s retro approach kind of fit that teenage dilemma. Plus, I just
wanted to find an excuse to do a ’60s-style doo-wop tune and sing all

has released the official music video for her latest single, "Beautiful
Love." The Australian singer-songwriter took a
unique approach to the video, filming and editing it entirely on her
iPhone with the help of Amy Lee. In the video, Imbruglia wakes up on a vintage Mercedes that holds a
special significance to her. She explains, "The merc in the video that I
wake up on is the first car I ever bought brand new; it was in 1998,
and I’m so attached to it I can't let it go!" The visually stunning video perfectly captures the essence of the
heartfelt lyrics and showcases Imbruglia's raw talent as an artist.
Paul Heaton has shared his brand new single "Sad Songs and Lawsuits",
giving fans another taste of his upcoming album "Jenius", due out on 21
August 2026. The storytelling ska-pop track follows the first
preview from the record, "Favourite Kind Of Idiot", featuring Heaton's
regular collaborator Rianne Downey. Jenius’ follows Heaton's 2024 album ‘The Mighty Several' and features 15 new songs, performed by Paul Heaton, his band and Downey, alongside additional vocals from Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke. Produced
by Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds and recorded at Manchester’s

The New Zealand singer-songwriter Phillipa Brown aka Ladyhawke returned with a new single "Bad To The Bone" It is her first new music in five years, following the 2021 "Time Flies." The song will appear on her upcoming fifth studio album, which is expected to be released in early 2027. She co-wrote the song with Canadian DJ Dom Dias, who also produced the track. The accompanying music video was directed by Sam Emerson.
Tricky's single "Because I Don’t Know" now gets a female perspective thanks to Lita Lores.
For the 21-year-old British singer, Bristol icon Adrian Thaws (who, as in the other versions, only provides a breathy backing vocal) completely transforms the song: Where the regular album version, with Mitch Sanders's falsetto, is a bouncy, danceable track with a catchy drum loop, the beat here is no longer so danceable and directly impactful, but rather ethereal and hallucinogenic.It pulsates dreamily and crackles subversively, while Lita Lores sensually revels in the electronically lush drama.
The keyboard takes on a latent glimmer of hope, and the keyboard instruments generally expand more atmospherically, while the subtle strings sound more cinematic.
In short: This version of "Because I Don't Know" is more clearly based on Tricky's classic albums.
