Rocktrospectiva: The Hypnotical "The Sensual World" Turns 35

 

Released on 16 October 1989 "The Sensual World" was the sixth studio album by English singer-songwriter Kate Bush, peaked at No. 2 on the UK albums chart, the album spawned three singles "The Sensual World", "This Woman's Work", & "Love And Anger". 

 

The artist reflect her views of love and find herself as a temptress, vocally and lyrically, in whcih she remains emotionally intact with her heart and or course her head, she drews inspiration for the title track from James Joyce novel "Ulysses", in which the artist realised that Molly Bloom's soliloquy, the closing passage of the novel, fitted the music she had created, "Love And Anger" which actually features David Gilmour's riffs, on this tipically cathartic tune by Bush, then the delicate strings arrangement on the melodic "Reaching Out" focuses on Bush freely comfortable floating, now "Deeper Understanding", Never Be Mine" and "Rocket's Tail" are one of a kind, the three features backing vocalks by Bulgarin vocal ensemble Trio Bulgarka, the first one of these pack sees bush blending technology with a certain glam rock experimentation, on "Rocket's Tail" she fells intrinsic to the reality of an individual's heart, then with "Between A Man And A Woman", Bush depicts pressure and heartbreak at same time, but the real deal is with "This Woman's Work", the key part on the record, a truly Bush song packed with intelligence and power in her two sides, as an artist and as a woman, "Heads We're Dancing" reproduces a mysteriously bass sound courtesy of Mick Karn.

The critics praised the album for its style and hypnotically way to used the pipes and sound textures, highlighting tracks such as "Love And Anger" and beautifully "This Woman's Work" considered the key part of the album, also Bush explotes her talente wildly voice through out the whole album to result into something unique and an album that defines her as an artist.
