Albums: Irreversible

 

Brigitte Calls Me Baby released their sophomore album, "Irreversible" as a way to perfectly captures their live energy and acclaimed songwriting. Produced by Yves & Lawrence Rothman the album set to released a couple of months ago with a very impressive collection of songs that hit hard, the album has spawned three singles so far "Slumber Party", "I Danced With Another Love In My Dreams" and the catchy "I Can Take The Sun Out Of The Sky." 

The album retains that vivid wall of 80s new wave retro sound with certain Mozza's vibes, and you can notice that since the beginning starting with the opener "There Always" in which singer Leavins retains the Viva Hate-Morrissey croon sound-a-like, while the band creates a tremendous soundscape in the most pure 80s new wave style, actually Irreversible sound has enough to showcase each instrument at its best.

Throught the album, we can notice the 80s-throwback wall of sound continues on songs like “I Danced With Another Love," which is Cure-esque in both its vocal stylings and beauty, but there are certain rocky vibes on "Slumber Party," while "The Pit" shows a lower pace is unusual on an album that largely breezes past, but becomes no worse a song for it.

The first half of the album is quite fantantics, playful and intese sometimes, yet also retaining the dark, brooding edge that makes this band so fascinating and quite interesting especially on tunes such as "These Acts Of Which We’re Designed". There are certain intense and key tunes such as "Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction," which is quite possibly the best song on the record due it got all the hallmarks of a breakthrough hit, although my personal favourite is "I Can Take The Sun Out Of The Sky." the perfect pop tune to me on this record equalling the earlier song as one of the best. The two closers, particularly the epic "Send Those Memories," are slightly more introspective and slow-burning compared to the dopamine rush of the potential singles, 

There is an instrumental interlude "Sillage" and then you have "I Can't Have You All To Myself" an interesting tune that remains The Smiths golden era b-sides.  The album is a living proof that the band’s music stands out to be the best of post-punk indie, new romanticism, and some kind of jangling indie-pop that defined the late 80s. and so on. However, the band seems to have updated that sound for the modern era.

Irreversible is a quite outstanding album, it feels like real breakthough album for an indie band something quite strange in these contemporary days, a fantastic album and yes...definitely one of the best of the year so far.

The incredibles Brigitte Calls Me Baby are sharing the video of their brand new single "I Can Take The Sun Out Of The Sky" taken off their second acclaimed studio album "Irreversible." Directed by Alec Basse, the video leans into a stylised, magazine-inspired concept—bringing the band's world to life through a nostalgic, print-era lens. "It's like a magazine where you can enter the world of the band," frontman Wes Leavins explained in a new Rolling Stone interview, hinting at a visual that doubles as a meta-commentary on the band's growing critical acclaim. The instantly gripping—balancing an open-road sense of freedom with an undercurrent of melancholic grandeur. Now this is one of the standout moments on Irreversible, a record that sees the band evolving into a more expansive, emotionally charged version of themselves.

New Music: I Danced With Another Love In My Dream

           

Brigitte Calls Me Baby has shared new single "I Danced With Another Love in My Dream," the track is off their forthcoming album Irreversible, the song started with us attempting to write something happy, but somehow found its way to being about infidelity, shares vocalist Wes Leavins. We played a few different versions live and in the end decided to lean into the bright and shiny side of it, and it turned into a song where those adulterous thoughts are carried out in a dream scenario. The cool video was directed by Alec Basse.

New Music: Slumber Party

           

Brigitte Calls Me Baby shares their new single "Slumber Party" a beautiful indie rock banger with lead singer Wes Leavins' signature, soon-worthy vocals. The song is the lead single off the band's forthcoming album Irreversible, due arrive on March 13 via ATO Records. Another song hitting for nostalgia of the good days of yore, with steady drums and jangly guitar as a reminder of their indie influences, The track explores the human psyche, Leavins shared that he "wrote that song thinking about the type of people who isolate and ruminate, to the point where it becomes a chore to leave the home.". The video direction credits belongs to Alec Basse.

The Chicago-based band Brigitte Calls Me Baby premieres their brand new single "We Were Never Alive" from their forthcoming debut studio album "The Future Is Our Way Out", another great tune surrounded by many influences but they are very much their own, traces of indie, rockabilly and jangle pop delivered here in the most awesome way, the video is directed by Alec Basse.

Another brilliant single by Brigitte Calls Me Baby one of the most interesting outfits to emerge into the scene over the last six months, "Eddie My Love" is taken from the band's EP "This House Is Made Of Corners" and you can clearly identify the rockabilly vibes, when Roy Orbison meets Morrissey for sure, the video was directed by Alex Basse And Max Moore.
