New Music: Martini Me Fasto

           

The National frontman Matt Berninger has a new solo single "Martini Me Fatso" the tune is not quite like anything Berninger has released before, perhaps his side project EL VY might be the closest parallel. The song swings and the arrangement is closer to jazz-rock or bluesy adult contemporary than usual. The lyrics and vocal performance, though, are unmistakably Berninger, 

New Music: Blue Monday

           

Matt Berninger releases his cover of New Order's 1983 classic "Blue Monday" to all streaming platforms after an exclusive Amazon Music run last September. The National frontman has been including the song in his live sets during his 2025 tour supporting his second solo album, "Get Sunk", and New Order has long been one of his favourite bands. Berninger's version strips away the driving electronic beats of the original, replacing them with live instrumentation that centres his distinctive baritone voice. Recorded at Knobworld in Los Angeles with the same musicians from "Get Sunk": Sean O'Brien on electric guitar and production, Garret Lang on bass, Julia Laws on synthesizers and backing vocals, and Sterling Laws on drums and percussion. Jannick Frampton assisted with recording.

New Music: Nowhere Special

           

Matt Berninger of The National has shared a music video for his new single "Nowhere Special," a standout cut from his latest solo album, Get Sunk. The video stars Matt's brother Tom Berninger (who directed the band's 2013 documentary/pseudo-autobiography Mistaken for Strangers) Directed by Chris Sgroi, and also have touring bandmate Ronboy (a.k.a. Julia Laws) in the visual and said: "When Matt asked me to take part in a video starring one of my favorite actors, Tom Berninger, I knew I had to sharpen my silver screen chops. Their sibling dynamic is as sincere and entertaining off screen as it is on."

New Music: No Love

           

Matt Berninger has shared a new single "No Love" from their just-released new album "Get Sunk",  the song finds Berninger working from within a texture that is reminiscent of his work within The National. "No Love" also is one of the moments where even when things do feel a little familiar, there is still a distinction – you can hear that in the opening moments, because it begins with a sense of urgency in the form of a dusty sounding breakbeat sample, before an emergent, kind of serious sounding progression on the piano tumbles in on top of that, the video credits belongs to Chantal Anderson and Aaron Beckum introducing and restless bear. 

 

New Music: Inland Ocean

           

Berninger is sharing his new album's opening track "Inland Ocean" Berninger co-wrote his new song with the Walkmen's Walter Martin, and it's got backup vocals from Julia Laws, otherwise known as Ronboy. The song rests on an echoing, staccato guitar riff and some saxophone that's been absolutely drenched in echo, althought musically it's not so different from what Berninger does with the National. The lyric video has been directed by Dale Doyle for Holotype and the X-Ray photography by Nick Veasey.

New Music: Bonnet Of Pins

           

Matt Berninger returns with "Bonnet Of Pins," the lead single from his upcoming sophomore solo album "Get Sunk." The track showcases Berninger at his most radiant—shimmering guitars, lush orchestration, and that unmistakable baritone capturing a rare feeling of genuine hope amidst melancholy. From its opening moments, the track establishes itself with lush, orchestral strings and a tempo that commands attention. Berninger is at perhaps his most radiant, his baritone catching light like he’s perpetually backlit by a golden hour sun. There’s a warmth here that feels genuinely earned, a respite from the calculated vulnerability that saturates today’s indie landscape

El gran Matt Berninger esta de vuelta con este increíble cover de The Velvet Underground "I'm Waiting For The Man", que forma parte de una recopilación "I'll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute To The Velver Underground & Nico" el cual incluye colaboración de otras luminarias como Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop y Kurt Vile entre otros y saldrá al mercado el próximo 24 de Septiembre.

Placeres Sonoros: One More Second (Future Islands Remix)

         

El pasado mes de Septiembre, Matt Berninger, el vocalista de The National entrega ahora su versión de "One More Second" con un remix a cargo de Future Island, recordemos que en Septiembre pasado, Berninger entrego el tema en una versión más tranquila, así que ahora es cuestión que decidan con cual se quedan, yo personalmente me quedó con esta porque es un poco más movida, el tema viene incluída dentro del disco "Serpentine Prison".

Primicia: One More Second

           

Matt Berninger estrena el video oficial del single "One More Second" de su disco en solitario "Serpentine Prison", a lanzarse el próximo 16 de Octubre, el clip es una especie de tomas con Berninger en una sesión de fotos, bailando en un escenario con una serie de imágenes como si estuviera frente a un público, y otras escenas con la banda de apoyo tocando el material, el clip correr a cargo de Chris Sgroi.

Matt Berninger había anunciado su lanzamiento como solistas casi un año atrás, y de hecho ya lanzó dos temas, y ahora nos sorprende con este tema, "One More Second" que compusó junto a Matt Sheehy el bajista de otro proyecto que Berninger que tiene, el tema se desprende del disco "Serpetine Prison" y que estara listo a partir del 2 de Octubre, según nos cuenta el artista, el tema es una respuesta a la balada de Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You", buscando una conversación en ese estilo queriendo escribir un tema de amor clásico, que suene simple y desesperado y que son bien disfrutables en el auto. 

Primicia: Distant Axis

             

Matt Berninger estrena el clip de su tema "Distant Axis", que se desprende de su esperado disco "Serpetine Prison" bajo la producción de Booker T. Jones, y que saldrá al mercado el próximo 16 de Octubre, según cuenta Berninger el tema es acerca de romper o  quedarse sin contacto con algo o alguien que una vez creyeron sería para siempre, la dirección corre a cargo del propio Matt Berninger, Tom Berninger, y Chris Sgroi. 

Primicia: Serpentine Prison

           

Matt Berninger el líder de The National estrena el single "Serpetine Prison", título homónimo de lo que será su disco debut en solitario, el tema fue escritó en Diciembre de 2018 una semana antes de haber grabado el disco de su banda "I Am Easy To Find", el artista esta promoviendo mucho material que ha escrito paralelamente a The National y este ha sido el resultado, con un clip dirigido por Tom Berninger y Chris Sgroi.
