A finales de este año, el sello Demon Music, lanzará un recopilatorio para todos aquellos nostalgicos ochenteros y amantes de las películas de John Hughes que marcaron época en los 1980's, la cual lleva por nombre "Life Moves Pretty Fast: The John Hughes Mixtapes", obedeciendo a las líneas que decía Ferris Bueller en el filme "Un Experto En Diversión", además se dice que es la primera recopilación oficial de las películas del legendario cineasta.
La colección viene en conjunto con la familia Hughes y ha sido curada por el que fuera el supervisor de música en las películas de Hughes, Tarquin Gotch y cubre el período de 1983 a 1989, la cuales vienen en un boxset de 4CD ofreciendo un total de 74 tracks con música de las películas: Pretty In Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Planes, Trains And Automobiles, She’s Having A Baby, The Great Outdoors y Uncle Buck.
Pero también viene una edición limitada deluxe de 4CD más un cassette de 14 tracks, y una reedición del single de 7" "Beat City"/"I'm Afraid" el cual fue distribuido originalmente por correo a los fans inscritos en el club de John Hughes, antes del lanzamiento de la icónica "Feris Bueller's Day Off", aquí el cassette apela al recuerdo de como se solian hacer las cosas en los 1980's entre Hughes y su supervisor de música Tarquin Gotch, ambos se solían enviar cintas por correo en la era pre-internet y de ahí venían saliendo las ideas de las portadas para todas las variantes de los cassettes.
El propio Gotch comentaba al respecto: En aquella cuando trabajabamos en los soundtracks de las películas, la mejor manera de enviar música alrededor del mundo era por cassettes a tráves de Fedex. Le enviabamos a John cassettes de música recien lanzada y demos, o mixes recien terminados, y de regreso, el nos enviaba videos VHS de las escenas que necesitaban música. John decía que el solo hace películas en las que el podía escoger que música poner, y de esa manera fue que su popularidad en el Box Office crecío, así mismo su poder con los estudios, el número de tracks en sus películas, destacadando muchas bandas del Reino Unido.
Y de hecho, le funcionaron las cosas y ese fue toque clave, ya que la mayoría de sus películas venía con un soundtrack increíble, de esos que ya no se ven hoy en día, y hay muchas escenas que no hubiera alcanzado el toque de no haber sido por los temas escogidos. Junto a las ediciones viene un libreto el cual varía de acuerdo a las ediciones que el consumidor compre, también hay una edición en vinilo con 6LP en color rojo de 73 tracks. "Lifes Moves Pretty Fast será lanzado el próximo 11 de Noviembre.
