New Music: Wanna Die

Genre-blurring UK artist Emma-Jean Thackray has announced her sophomore album Weirdo. The album was written, performed, recorded, mixed, produced and arranged entirely by Emma-Jean in her South London flat, and it features collaborations with Reggie Watts and Kassa Overall. Now she sahres s a new single, the skittering electronic pop of "Wanna Die," along with a video directed by Emma-Jean and starring six versions of herself as her own six-piece band. It also has an intro by Gilles Peterson.

MEMORIAM BRIAN JAMES (1955-2025): The iconic guitarist founder of the Damned and TLords Of The New Church died aged 70 according an statement in his account in facebook. IN MEMORIAM DAVID JOHANSEN (19502-2025): The wiry, gravelly-voiced singer and last surviving member of the glam and protopunk band the New York Dolls who later performed as his campy, pompadoured alter ego, Buster Poindexter, has died. He was 75. Johansen died Friday at his home in New York City, Jeff Kilgour, a family spokesperson told The Associated Press. It was revealed in early 2025 that he had stage 4 cancer and a brain tumor. IN MEMORIAM GENE HACKMAN 1930-2025): Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife appeared to have been dead for "quite a while" when the couple and their dog were found on Wednesday afternoon at their home in the US state of New Mexico, police say. Hackman, 95, was discovered in a side room near the kitchen of the house in Santa Fe, while his wife Betsy Arakawa, a 65-year-old classical pianist, was found in a bathroom. Authorities reported no signs of injury but deemed the deaths "suspicious enough" to investigate and have not ruled out foul play. No cause of death was given. IN MEMORIAM MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG (1985-2025): Trachtenberg was found unconscious and unresponsive Wednesday and determined dead by EMS officials. The NYPD said no criminal involvement is suspected and the investigation is ongoing. IN MEMORIAM RICK BUCKLER (1955-2025): The Jam's iconical drummer Rick Buckler has died aged 69 the causes of his deceased still unknown.
