Rocktrospectiva: The Consistent "Beneath The Eyrie" Turns 5

Released on 13 September 2019, "Beneath The Eyrie" was the seventh studio album by indie rock American band Pixies, the album spawned two singles "On Graveyard Hill" and "Catfish Kate" under the production of Tom Dalgety who previously worked with the band back in 2016, the title was inspired by an eagle's nest discovered at the back of the converted church that the band were recording in: "There was an old train track from the 1800s that was all grown in. When you walk to the train track you can get a glint of a giant eagle’s nest, a bald eagle’s nest. It’s huge, quite a sight.

As it was expected, the first two albums by the band released after their return back in 2004, failed to achieve success, especially when the iconic bassis Kim Deal left the band, but the band keep moved on, Black Francis remains good with the lyrics starting with the nice "In The Arms Of Mrs. Mark Of Cain", alongside the Deal replacement, Paz Lenchantin featuring the usual guitars of the band, On "Graveyard Hill" sounds like a tune that perfectly matches on every Black Francis solo album, but you have the brilliant "Catfish Kate", in which the band seems to recovered the magic of the good old days of yore, here it comes the weirdo ones "This Is My Fate" and the leading voice of  Lenchantin of "Bird Of Prey", their proper version of spaghetti western on "Ready For Love", the nice "Silver Bullet" and other crazy tunes such as "Long Rider", and muscle "St. Nazaire".

The band seemed to sound better than ever, or at leart recovering the form and touch, this achieved favorable reviews, considered as one of their best albums since the band's reforming in 2004, although some others reviews wasn't too enthusiastic after all, compared as a b-sides record of their beloved "Bossanova", trying to sound the best as possible to recover their heyday glimpse, in spite of that, th album paved the way for the most remarkable and improved version of the Pixies in the new decade.
