Rocktrospectiva: The Stronger And Diverse "Vagabond Heart" Turns 35

 

Released on 25 March 1991 "Vagabond Heart" was the 16th., studio album by Scottish singer Rod Stewart. The album reached No. 10 in the US, and reached No. 2 in the UK, featuring five singles, It Takes Two", Rhythm Of My Heart", "The Motown Song" a cover of Robbie Robertson's song "Broken Arrow" and Van Morrison's song "Have I Told You Lately", which would become a hit two years later (in a live version). 

The two biggest hits from the album were "Rhythm of My Heart" (No. 3 in the UK/No. 5 in the US) and "The Motown Song" (No. 10 in the UK and US). Considered a very energetic Album, from 1991 in which the vocals were powerful as instrumentation so. A nice mix of ballads & rockers that still feel freshuntil now. 

Stewart keep recovering streghts with this album, one of his most diverse and strong than it's predecessor, with a more cohesive pack of songs, such as the intense "Broken Arrow" and thte hit "Motown Song" on which Stewart delivered one of his most intense and passionates performance. It could be argued that Vagabond Heart is one the early 90's classic albums in every regard.  With hits like "Rhythm of My Heart", "It Takes Two", and the "Motown Song" gave the album its explosive energy while impeccably written ballads like "Broken Arrow", the magnificent "Have I Told You Lately", and "If Only" round it out perfectly. An album in the pop genre with sheer quality and highly recommended for any Fan of Rod Stewart.

The album received positive reviews praising the new challenges for Stewart both as a songwriter and a singer, indeed, the strength of the songs and the depth of Stewart's conviction made this his most compelling work since the early 1970s.
