Rocktrospectiva: The Vibrant And Nostalgic "Hot Fuss" Turns 20

 

Released on 7 June 2004, "Hot Fuss" was the debut studio album by the American indie rock band The Killeres, a sound mostrly influenced by new wave and post punk, the album spawned four huge and critically succesful singles "Mr. Brightside", "Somebody Told Me, "All These Things That I've Done" and Smile Like You Meant It", this helped the album to reach the Billboard 200 at No. 7 and No. 1 on UK Albums chart. 

 

Recorded at various points throughout 2003, many of the tracks were taken from demos as the band decided to keep for their spontaneity, originally they throw away everything recorded after hearing the album by The Strokes "Is This It" that sounded so perfect for them, so the only track that remained was "Mr. Brightside", the sound of the album contained a lot of Echo Farm on Brandon Flowers voice, due the production was on charge by Flowers, Jeff Saltzman and Braden Merrick and the Echo Farm was a recently brand new technology back then, they decided to keep moving. 

 

Propelled by the decline of Oasis and the big empty left by Radiohead, there was a whole niche at the market for music with guitars, so this was used first by Franz Ferdinand and then followed by The Killers, heavily influenced by Bowie, U2 and Psychedelic Furs, the mocked at the scene on "Glamorous Indie Rock And Roll", then there was these arena hynsb on "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine" that started the trilogy of the murder and keep goin' on with "Midnigh Show", and the inedit "Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf", then comes the mega hit "Mr. Brightside", the first track composed by Flowers and Keuning when they finally met "Somebody Told Me" was the other track that loved everyone back then, and then the world stumble and fall with "All These Things That I've Done". 

 

The album receieve positivy crticis praised it for its originality and sound and propelled the band into the world stardom.
