Brooklyn band Geese released a new track and a new video with "Au Pays du Cocaine", an atmospheric, elusive, dining-table conversation with an undeniably adorable houseguest. The
newest music video to arrive following the release of the band's album
Getting Killed, "Au Pays du Cocaine" features Geese's frontman Cameron Winter singing
to a baby (actually three separate babies, per the credits!) across a
long wooden table before curling himself up in a crib. The video is directed by filmmaker Milo Hume,
who says that the concept came about pretty spontaneously. He explains "Cam and I were listening to the unreleased album in my living room this
past June. Cocaine came on, and I was struck by how serious he looked
while hearing it. His lyrics have this almost lecturing, forceful tone —
but who could he be addressing, if we played that idea a bit? By the
second “baby,” it suddenly became obvious." "From there, the rest
started falling into place. The dark house, the table, the crib. I
wanted the video to have just enough of a beginning, middle, and end to
invite different interpretations, without locking it into one specific
meaning. Seeing the range of fan interpretations has been incredible."
