Music News: Pixies Announce New Album "The Night The Zombies Came"

Pixies have announced their new album "The Night The Zombies Came" and shared their haunting new brand new single "Chicken". The album marks the band's 10th album since their 1987 classic "Come On Pilgrim" a mini-LP, and also marks their first new music since 2022’s "Doggerel". According to media the new album is their most cinematic record of their career as of yet.

About the new album, Pixies frontman Black Francis said: "Fragments that are related and juxtaposed with other fragments in other songs. And in a collection of songs in a so-called LP, you end up making a kind of movie". With the announcement of the LP, the band have shared their new single "Chicken". “Sometimes I feel like a chicken, pecking my way through the trees, when something aloft cuts my head right off, now I’m dealing with decapitation,” sings Black Francis. Elsewhere in the song, Francis describes feeling like an actor in Zombie movies, while guitarist Joey Santiago provides a sharp and haunting lead guitar part throughout the track.

 

"The Night The Zombies Came" will also feature the band’s previously released song "You’re So Impatient". The band teamed up with their longtime collaborator, producer Tom Dalgety, for the LP. The creation of the album also saw Pixies welcome new bass player Emma Richardson from band O Skulls.
