Released on 15 August 1994, "Grace" is the only studio albun by American musician Jeff Buckley, the album had poor sales and received mixed reviews back then, however in recent years, this recording has turned dramatically into a cult record risen in critical and musician craftmanship reputation.
The album re-entered the chart in Australia peaking at No. 44 in 2007, and in the UK reached the same position on 2004. The album spawned four singles "Grace", "Last Goodbye", "So Real", & "Eternal Life". helping to paved the rare success of the album, which has been cited by fans, critics, and listeners as one the greatest of all time, and audacios recording fille with sweeping choruses, intense arrangements, good lyrics and a richly textured voice of Buckley resembling a cross between Robert Plant, Van Morrison and his father, indeed, the album sounds like a Led Zeppelin album with awesome cuts, the soaring "Last Goodbye", the mourningful "Lover, You Should've Come Over", and the vibrant "So Real".
Other remarkable tracks are "Corpus Christi Carol" based on a Janet Baker version, with Buckley sang from a way of thanking his friend for introduced him this song in his childhood, "Hallelujah" is another highlight track, an impressive cover version from Leonard Cohen track, this provide the fuel necessary to considered the album as one of the greatest recordings of the nineties, and late Buckley as one-of-a kind musician, that achieved perfection in his debut album, and absolutely hauting album that the listener just can't get enough of it, a one of the best albums ever made.
Unfortunately, Buckley wouldn't live enough to achieved the mainstream succeed he deserved. In 1997, Buckley mover to Memphis, Tennessee to resume work on their follow-up album "My Sweetheart The Drunk", he was also playing weekly solo shows at local venues. On May 29, 1997 while awaiting the arrival of his band from New York, Buckley drowned during a spontaneuos evening swim fully clothed in the Wolf river, where he was caught in the wake of a passing boat, his body was found on June 4.
