Rocktrospectiva: Enuff Z'Nuff Self-Titled Album Turns 35

Formed in 1985, they grew as an opening act for Poison. Released on 18 August, 1989 "Enuff Z'Nuff" was the band's self-titled debut studio album and remains the band's best selling album in their catalog. The album spawned three singles "New Thing", "Fly High Michelle" and "For Now" which was cancelled due the band was focused on their follow-up album.

The band was the living and still does the breathing example of what a rock and pop band should be, during the summer of 1989, the band came strutting, loud and proud releasing this self-titled debut album, and there you go "New Thing" tore up the radio and MTV airwaves, followed their bittersweet rock ballad "Fly High Michelle", elevating the band to gold status and paved the road to success in the years to come, Rolling Stone Mag once calle them one of the most exciting and gifted bands on the scene back then.

The band oftenly overshadowed because of their role in the hair & glam metal era of the late '80s., although the band share more common bonds with power pop acts such as Cheap Trick and Badfinger, the band released their fantastic power pop single "New Thing" featuring the graspy vocals of Donnie Vie along the guitar-powered melody, "For Now" capture the same energy and magic that remarks the freshy sound of that era, and "Fly High Michelle" reveals the fondness for psychedelic a power ballads, but the album had other remarkable tracks such as the contemplative "I Could Never Be Without You", which offers a power intense pop sound, "Hot Little Summer Girl" and "Kiss The Clown" stand alone on their own, and the seven-minutes standar "In The Groove"  is a remarkable track despite the excessive guitar rambling.

Even though the album is a impressive debut, proving Enuff Z'nuff was more than a hair metal band, and deserves more respect than they received so far. Unfortunately the sound and widespread fame their most famous singles had at the time, overshadowing their career, other tracks such as "Hot Little Summer Girl" and "I Could Never Be Without You" were being featured on TV shows Beverly Hills 90210 and Northern Exposure.

Things changed for the band as they focused on their next album in 1991, the hair and glam metal was no longer the most popular sound being exchanged by grunge and alternative rock. Still a major force nearly 35 years later, the band still active earning the respect and acclaim of its peers and contemporaries with a huge legion of loyal fans.
