La banda R.E.M. lanzará el próximo 24 de noviembre, una masiva caja de 6 DVD que documenta 30 años de presentación en directo de la banda, tomas de programas de televisión, entrega de premios, y apariciones de la banda en el otrora fabuloso MTV.
El nombre del box set será "REMTV" y recopilará 14 horas de material, que incluyen también los dos Unplugged que la banda realizó para MTV en el 91 y 01, así como una serie presentaciones y un documental llamado "R.E.M. by MTV".
La caja saldrá a la venta el próximo 24 de noviembre bajo el sello Rhino, por lo cual Bertis Downs, manager de la banda durante largo tiempo dijo: Ocurrio que para nosotros existia un montón de material audiovisual de la carrera absoluta de la banda, entre esto puntos clave de presentación en MTV en Londres y Nueva York, y gracias a la entrega, esfuerzo, y dedicación, pudimos echar andar este nuevo proyecto que comparte la música con varias generaciones de fanaticos de R.E.M., además de un documental de Alxander Young que es una fina manera de contar la historia de R.E.M. con todo y sus altas y bajas capturadas en tiempo real por las camaras de MTV.
El primer disco combina ambos, el MTV Unplugged", así como presentaciones y tomas de audio las cuales fueron lanzadas este año, el segundo disco contiene el documental de 1998 "VH1 Storytellers" con dos canciones que nunca fueron lanzadas al aire, así como material del programa de MTV "The Cutting Edge" de 1984 y otras apareciones de MTV, el disco tres, cuatro y cinco, contieenen apariciones para la MTV en otras partes del mundo entre 1995-2008, por ejemplo conciertos en Colonia en el 2001, y en Atenas, Grecia del 2008.
